The Crew of the Downfall
Major Crew
Imperial (and allied) characters that have a notable impact on the story.
The Lord Captain / The Governour
he/him"Heretical threats to my people will not be tolerated, including by those once amongst their number."
Some centuries ago a Rogue Trader of the [Redacted] dynasty settled down to govern a small star system instead.
Generations later, said star system, now under rule of her descendant, successful and beloved Governour [Redacted], was overrun by a Tyranid Hive Fleet. The Governour escaped the consumption and destruction of his system with as many of his people as he could gather onto his personal flotilla, headed by the Heresy's Downfall, the flagship of his Rogue Trader ancestor. Taking up her mantle as Rogue Trader himself, he has traveled the void since, looking for a new home for his remaining people; until heeding the call of Lord Commander Guilliman, who bid Rogue Traders to explore the fringes of known Imperial space for new worlds and resources. A mission that well fits his own.
The Lord Captain has sworn off his name until he has found his people a new home, and is only addressed as Lord Captain of the Downfall (having renamed the ship to reflect the tragedy) or, by those who have known him before he took to the void, Governour.
The Lord Captain is a man of average height and build. He has long black hair peppered with grey that he wears in elegant but simple styles. Like many Rogue Traders he dresses somewhat flamboyantly, and holds himself with an air of noble and absolute authority, but those closest to him know him to be a practical and kind man of his people... if rather eccentric and mischievous.
His enemies, on the other hand, know him to be disturbingly insightful and absolutely ruthless when his people are in danger.

Seneschal Geber al-Kufi
they/them"I am indeed only here for regular, non-celebratory paperwork, Lord Captain."
Efficient, no-nonsense, fearless (and some would say humourless), Geber makes for the perfect Seneschal to their Rogue Trader. Trade, logistics, administration, management, nothing seems to be beyond their skill, and if anyone has the Rogue Trader's ear, it is Geber, who has been his most loyal servant since before he was the Rogue Trader.
Geber has been described as looking perpetually sour.

Internal Spymaster Larsa Guinavere
he/him"My people keep me updated on his activities, as ever."
A Voidborn from a long line of Voidborn who have called the Downfall their home since it was first acquired by the [Redacted] dynasty, Larsa knows the ship like no other and considers it an extension of his very self. While some would unkindly call him and his family 'ship rats', the truth is that they have used their uncanny familiarity with the ship to supervise and spy on the Downfall's crew for its Captain for countless generations, and Larsa is no exception. As 'Internal Spymaster', his job is to keep the Lord Captain abreast of any threats arising from within the vast ship, and to subtly manipulate potential troublemakers and troublesome situations toward either improvement or demise.
Like many Voidborn, Larsa is extremely pale and whitehaired. He is tall and wiry, and his eyes and visual processing are augmented with a visor that allows Emperor knows how much control over what he sees.

External Spymaster Emerence de Vries
she/her (???)"I manage our Lord Captain's more... fraught and delicate interactions with outside parties. Keep him apprised of potential threats, opportunities and complications.""

For any dangers, complications or opportunities from without, Emerence de Vries is the spy to call. Emerence knows how to wrap any person around her finger, can read even the faintest twitch in a lying man's face, and can kill so subtly and efficiently, her victim won't even fall until she has left the room.
Emerence is a master of disguise. She changes her appearance, her voice, her movements, her preferences, her very self to whatever is needed the most, and none can claim to have ever seen her true face, not even the Lord Captain himself. Some say there is no real Emerence de Vries, only a neverending collection of personas.
When on the Downfall, she most often presents as beautiful, sensual noblewoman... as close to a 'real' Emerence as it gets.

Strikk
he/him"An ally of necessity will fight alongside you. An ally of conviction will fight with you. I am convinced of Lord-Captain's worth, and he is convinced of yours, so I will fight with you."
The Rogue Trader's personal bloodhound (and often bodyguard). Strikk is fiercely loyal to 'Lord-Captain' due to a personal debt owed.
Most humans find the tall, deep-voiced Kroot terrifying, but when not battling Lord-Captain's enemies he is actually extremely calm and patient. He is gangly and long-beaked, and never seen without his rifle.

Kepler N1-1
she/her"..."
Kepler is one of the oldest Enginseers on the ship, and one of the most enigmatic members of the Downfall's tech-priests. Despite only being an Enginseer, she seems to have the trust and appreciation of tech-comrades of every rank and division, always knows where and how to procure any number of items or information, and has insight into a vast number of ongoings on the ship, including outside Station 19-F.
The most puzzling fact about her though is that despite her notable age, experience and dedication, she is not a Magos.
Kepler is heavily augmented and what little remains of her organic body is deeply scarred. Her augments appear to be in constant need of repair, but seem to serve her well enough to not be replaced despite their apparent age. She is friendly, outright warm toward her tech-comrades, and while some call her 'overly sentimental' when asked, no one would ever dare insinuate that she lacks respect or skill.
