Early Life
350 years ago, when humans first came to the Shining Continent, they stirred something in the land, changing its nature into something more unpredictable, something Weirder. In those time, a shapeshifting animal arose, the Wolf, a creature embodying its very spirit, able to transform into human form.
When one day, the Wolf was lethally wounded, a pair of starving animals, a honey badger and a goshawk, consumed its corpse and acquired its abilities to change. Or perhaps they had always had it and consuming the Wolf awoke them to the knowledge... neither can say in hindsight. But what is clear is that they were the first of the immortal shapeshifting animals that would eventually become the continent's defense against darkness.
The Honey Badger quickly learned to use their power to its fullest.
The Goshawk... not so much. But even though he could only change into a single unchanging human form, and he was perhaps not the cleverest, or the wisest, or the strongest, he was most definitely dedicated, firmly believing that he owed it to his power to make the best of his many future lives.
